Couple of questions --- As far as the conversion goes, I was thinking about mounts for the motor, esc, and batteries. Kershaw sells a simple motor mount for either $30, or they have the BRUSHLESS motor mount, which is able to mount 2 motors still for $67. It will let me keep everything the same. Then there comes the trays... They sell trays for $47. I think I can probably do better, but where? The $67 kit comes with a 5mm bore pinion. For $30, I could get my own pinion. The mount is a simple single piece of aluminum. However it will require I drill one hole in the stock X chassis... Quote from Kershaw -

Why the larger manufacturers have not used some of the simple, yet ingenious tricks included with this conversion is beyond us. This kit is the only Savage brushless conversion we are aware of that allows you to maintain the strong stock slipper clutch, mod 1 sized gearing, your braking system, reverse if installed AND the 2 or 3-speed automatic transmission. Put simply, nothing changes about your Savage except it will be brushless powered. With the use of your 2-speed automatic transmission, Savage owners easily see 45+ mph. 3-speed tranny owners see more...
I could use the Flux trays, but i don't really want to switch over to Flux TVP's just yet... $40 for FLM TVP's.

Next question - 2 speed. Right now I have the stock two speed. From there I can either disable 2nd gear, OR get first AND second gear in metal for a 2 speed. I would get more torque, and more top end. Your thoughts on this? Would steel be strong enough? Would I want close gear ratio?

Thanks,
AD
Edit: i see it allows you to use your stock brakes. This is only optional I assume as the motor will still have it's own brakes. But wouldn't that save my motor higher temps? Take some stress off it? How exactly would that hook up?
