The clutch was a good idea in theory, as it'll eliminate cogging and make it easier on the motors to get the kart moving from a stop so they should heat up less. So to be able to gear for over 30mph and move 200+lbs, I think it was a good idea, especially if you were going to use only 2 motors. The clutch they used however looks like one a cheap 3-5hp gokart would use so an upgrade is definitely in order.
