Looking for a large scale buggy body - 06.01.2009, 10:31 AM

As the title says, I have yet another large scale project in the works, and need to find a buggy body that is large than 1/8 scale.

So far the best bet has been the xtm xlb body, but I would really like something a bit bigger. I know that Bergonzoni has a nice looking 6th scale body, but finding one for sale has been very difficult.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

How about a Firehammer, MCD Racerunner or one of the many other carson/fg buggy clones?

I think I may have found a body to start my next project:

That makes it a little bit harder. If you didn't have so many projects I'd say break out the welder and some 20-24ga and make one, probably wouldn't be as heavy as you might think. Something like this isn't all that hard, especially for a body guy, just time consuming. That and being afraid to run it hard for fear of messing it up is the other drawback to a metal body.

BTW that's 1/4 scale with a 100cc engine. But you can see the simple shapes and how they are put together pretty good on this. Came out good for a homemade body IMO.

Nice looking buggy. I will be making some tube cages for the 5t savage to support the big proline body, hopefully it will last longer that way.

I will see what I can come up with.

Not too fond of the way it looks with the exposed cage, although it may be the best/cheapest option. I need to settle on a WB for the chassis then see what the 5b body will look like on it. I may pick up a desert rat from proline, and not cut the center out. Some tube for the cage and i will be good to go.
