Ease of turning by hand 36-60-2000? - 06.27.2009, 08:21 AM

I just sold my converted Raze buggy with a V2 36-60-2000 and just recieve a V2 36-60-2000 that I bought used. One was significantly easier to turnover by hand than the other. Does this sugest that the one easier to turn by hand may have a problem? weak magnet (demagged)?

I'm going to test it out in my rustler and see if I can tell a difference. I was just hoping that someone here might have some insight for me. Thanks

The used one is easier to turn by hand correct? May be partially de-magged yeah. It will cog more from start up, and temps will climb much quicker during use if thats the case..

Yes it is the used one that is easier to turn. Do you think I should run it or just send it to medusa for a checkup/ repair? The more I think about it, I already know the answer to that question.

Thanks for the answer Neil.

Yeah, I'll have it in the mail by the end of the week.

I just gave it a quick run and it deffinatly has some issues. I've never had a motor cog, but I think thats what this one does. It's not from a stop, but at low speed it seems like it's cogging pretty bad. Once it gets past lets call it 3-7mph it's fine, but something is definatly wrong.

Does anyone know if medusa has a flat fix rate for motors like castle does?

Medusa fixes them for free. At least they did when I snapped my shaft on the 36-70....

Short the three leads together and turn the shaft, (now it's a electricity generator)if it's still easy to get it spin, it's de-magged, send it in for rotor replacement.

that's what i did with my VXL motor after noticing that it practically free-spins when turned. surprisingly, it was only veeery slightly de-magged. now it runs as hot as my EZrun 3300kv motor.(i think the dent in the motor may have a role in that too)

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.
