I will probably go to 6s lipo eventually. Depends if the quark gives out on 5s. If it does then hopefully the ICE hv 160 will be out by then.

So it's settled, I'll get the tdr mount and colleted adapter, 63 spur and a variety of pinions.

I had an idea these things were popular. Thanks guys.

ahh the e-lst, it's kind of like a rcm rite of passage! Here's mine, another big ups on the dude mount. I cheaped out and just jbwelded instead of buying the single speed, I'll get around to it one day. mmm, dusa 36/70/1600, run it on 5s, tons of power, stays cool, just needs to be a tad faster, I'll get a 26 or 27t pinion one of these days.

Everyone seems to have roughly the same setup. That's reassuring for me

Although I hav seen some running 4s and I think that might be pushing the limits. I thought the idea of this conversion is to make it as fun as possible with out the worry of breaking as much, electronics included.

Explain please ?
I've ben running 4s in both my ELST's for several years with zero issues ?
4s is definitely enough voltage, I still break a diff or axle now and again and runs nice and cool.

I also have a medusa - 36-80-1600 with 2 of the medusa heatsinks to cover the whole motor. I was reluctant to use this motor because I don't want to be dissapointed in it's performance after running a 1515 in a rcm rc8t. A 1300w motor in a heavy lst2 and 1500w motor in a race truggy. I have a tendancy to gun it too, 160a spikes are a norm.

I forgot to ask about the diff oil too. That will need to be heavier than usual yeh? I've got some traxxas 30k, i'll see how that goes.

I have a foward only tranny on the way. I had pondered leaving the stock one in so I could utilize the high/low range to select bashing or speed runs, I think gearing for that would be difficult though.

jas your the guy who bought my e-maxx 3905 :) saw you on youtube.
yeh...the standard wing sat to high for the revo body so modded the mugen wing to fit...30k diff oil was what I use in mine. With the forward only ,do the gear flip mod for a bit more top-end ,the mod is (fit the gears opposite to what is in the instructions) you also need to dremel a bit out of the gearbox case to allow the gears to turn freely.I was also running 30/63 gearing.....yeh mate its me....Emaxx is a killer and heaps of fun,few hop ups on it now ,got a 36-70-2000 Medusa and mamba max in it now.

I don't know how hot it gets where you are Bondo but I live Oz and will expect 40C / 100F in the comming summer. So I would like to keep the volts up and amps/heat down.

When running good batteries and good electronics you can get by with 4s. But once you go with a lower kv motor and 6s you will never go back.

Lower kv and 6s lipo will provide the best temps. With the availability of the MMM there is no reason to not run 6s. Especially when the 1717 CC motor on the horizon. I gave up 4s in heavier vehicles, too many amps and the power reserve is so much better with 6s.

95degrees are normal temps w/95% humidity.

Linc clarified.

I'm running 22/63 for gearing (the TL TiN spur). I saw a link for a speed calculator here somewhere, and with this gearing the truck has 1:1 rollout. I figured that was a pretty good place to start.

Nice truck jzemaxx. Are you using the stock drive shafts from the gearbox? Is the gearbox from 3905? I like how it removes the spur and slipper from hanging over the side. It doesn't look like it would be to difficult to do either.
Good one

My main issue with ditching the stock lst tranny for the 3905 unit is that you then introduce torque twist from the motor perpendicular to the tire axis. Maybe a minor concern but i like how the chassis does not lean under hard acceleration and braking. Plus i think the lst tranny is stronger than the emaxx. I do not like the long input shaft end that sticks out when using the tdr hub and spacer, so I plan to thread the shaft and find a larger thrust bearing so I can eliminate 1" or so of it. I also plan to modify the gear cover to fit back on as well. That is my only issue with the driveline on the lst, the rest is great!
