Damn, makes me glad I dont own a real car, though walking is only fun when its not raining...

Need a barking dog alarm system- it senses someone close to or touching the car (very sensitive to vibrations), and sets off the loud barking dog noise- and not the same set of barks each time otherwise the thief will realise its just a sound track, instead have random barks and growels from the same breed of dog, in short or long sections or 'tracks'.

My idea, but someone else can design and market it

I feel your pain - 10.23.2009, 09:55 PM

Byte,
I totally know how you feel on that one! About 4 months ago, I got up to give my little boy (5 Months old at the time) a bottle about 3:15 in the morning and a few minutes later heard a big boom followed by a crash. My wife stirred and asked what that was and looked out side to see this a$$hole standing on my wife's Honda Odyessy that we just bought new in 07' smashing the windshield.

Luckily since I was wide awake I got good look at the car they were in and called the police who caught them tearing up a mini Cooper 3 blocks away. The little douche bags were board, not drunk, high or anything just over privileged and board.

All in all those 3 morons tore up a total of 7 cars and did about 10k in damage in my neighborhood.

But my wife had the last laugh, she is an attorney and knew the judge over the case and the prosecutor. Plus she knew there defense attorneys and made sure they knew they weren't walking away from it with out her getting a pound of flesh (The phrase around my house if Mama ain't happy ain't no one happy has special meaning) She made sure they got jail time. If those little twits get out of line in the next 5 years they go to prison for 2 years, ha ha ha . Not jail, prison!

Still though, it is upsetting as my little girl who is 3 and half still asks questions about the mean boys who broke her car, and we had to wait a long time for them to make restitution, but at east we got it.

I am sorry you got the short end of the stick. I wish 10 times for them as they wished for you Byte.

I might get flamed for this, but let's try to get a little perspective on things here. If the worst thing that happened to you today was a scratch to your car, then you had a better day than about 90% of other people in the world.

Your Friday would really suck if a family member died, you found out you had a terminal illness, your girlfriend/wife was raped, you were in a warzone, etc. I'm not trying to be negative here, I'm just saying people (including myself) need to keep perspective.

Whenever I'm having a bad day I take a look around me and look at the all the blessings I have. It's easy to dwell on the one bad thing and overlook the thousands of good things. It doesn't take long to realize that often times the things that are supposedly ruining your day are pretty minor when looking at the big picture.

So please don't take this the wrong way, but your day didn't really suck that bad.

Very true. The next day I got into work I walked in and everyone was looking at me and very upset (I had got pulled out of a meeting the day before and was outside w/ the cops the rest of the day, so I didn't talk to anyone about it yet.)

I thought, "wtf, the break-in wasn't that bad... I'm not even that upset...."

So I keep walking to my desk and the director and other upper mgmt was standing near w/ worried looks on their faces waiting for me. "Damn, wth is
going on?..."

I walk over and they tell me our coworker, the guy who sat next to me, had a heart attack and died the previous night. Fook. Had two young kids too.
I'm out a couple hundo for repairs, but his whole family is really screwed. Been a pretty crappy week.

Nope, you're terminally screwed Jay!

Co-workers dying is awful, especially when they have a young family, not much anyone can really say to make that guy's family feel better..
