1/10th Scale SC 4wd vs. 1/8th Scale Buggies

Well, you already have an SC8, so like I said I believe all you need is the RC8 chassis. Swap it out and there you go. Might need a different spur gear.

GOing from an RC8T or RC8 to an SC8 is more of a hassle. When I coverted my RC8T to a "wide" SC8, I was able to fit all f/r bumpers with no hassle using the RC8T suspension (towers, bulkheads, etc.). Otherwise to convert an RC8T to an SC8 you have to replace the suspension with an RC8's suspension components, but the shocktowers and shocks are different (SC8 uses a mix of both RC8T and RC8).

Best bet is to download the RC8 and SC8 drawings from Associated's website and do part number comparison. Thats what I did.

They both had traction rolling problems, almost equal I should say. Granted, this was the first time any of us had raced the 4x4s. It was my second time to drive it on a track, a first for some others. I know my personal truck seemed faster than the Slashes, but I may have just been heavier on the throttle and it's really too early to tell.

And even more to consider on the 1/8th buggies vs the 1/10 SCs 4x4 is the weight. My buggy is a lot heavier than my 10sc and that weight sits lower. This is contributed to the fact that I use 4s and a 1/8 scale (Tekin RX8) esc and motor. My 10sc is using a 540 sized brushless and 2s. One person tried 3s so he could clear the triple, but it was just too much wasted power. Oh, and he could never clear the damn thing on his wheels. SC trucks tend to float after a certain distance.

Regardless, even if I put a big HV class brushless motor and 4s in my 10sc, I don't think it would work very well. Its just not designed for it and I can't imagine all the parts I would break.

I've run 3s in my slash 4x4 PE (stock gearing) and its fun just bashing. But it would have to be a large track to put that power to good use, there's just not enough traction.

I wondered about the 10sc compared to the slash , because the cg is lower and the tires are slightly shorter too. You know like the old SC10 vs Slash cg debate. I'm happy with my slash, it bashes better then my sc bodied buggy because of the ground clearance. Smaller batteries and motor/esc are a nice side benefit too.

The problem with the traction rolling is with the suspension setup I believe, the sc trucks lean and transfer weight to the outside where the buggy doesn't. you need to stiffen up the suspension but you will lose the scale appearance

Do the SC trucks have anti roll bars?

slash 4x4 has them optional, Platinum edition and the Ofna/jammin comes with them stock. But as crazyjr said the suspension is still setup to lean and with more visible weight transfer, like the full size trucks. I think the other problem has to do with the higher cg and the amount of weight being transfered, relative to the total weight of the vehicle.
