I think if MS used sockets this would be solved for good. Like the newer CPUs:

I've got a problem, I can't find my thermal paste. Is it alright if I use whats already on there? It doesn't look all that great.

Definitely don't reuse what's on there already. It's too dried up and will not cover properly.

Well It's all fixed now, I play for an hour on it and it seems to me working great.

It was "Working" before I took apart to repair so lets hope this keeps it working indefinitely.

Wile tightening down the bolts, I made sure to do it evenly and that they weren't gonna hit any chips on the board, I did that by sliding a paper in between as well as checking with a flash light.

also I have heat sinks honked down on their really tight but nothing ridiculous that's gonna beak any thing

The cpu heat sink is clamped evenly all the way around and the tabs are bent down ever so lightly and are 2.5mm away from the mother board.

The gpu heat sink is 2.3 mm away from the mother board and also clamped evenly all the way around.

I noticed some light flexing in the mother board, but it was very slight.

I also taped the bolt heads to keep them from vibrating loose. While parts were flexing slightly and every thing was very snug., The bolts them selves didn't feel like they had much tension on them.
I could have easily have tightened the bolts down more, but decided to go visual with how tight I "saw" they were instead of what they "felt" like.

Also, these were the codes on my X clamps, I don't know what they mean so I'd figure I'd post them up.

if you use washers and nylon washers you should be able to tighten them down all the way but its no biggy.

also bigboi- there are some games that dont come out for playstation. Another thing that is far superior on 360 is the online play. Granted you have to spend 50 bucks a year for this it is definetly worth it.

im not saying a ps3 is crappy or anything because i have one too, but I dont get how someone can be ANTI playstation or ANTI microsoft. the graphics are pretty equal on both and each have their fare share of games.

ps3s dont break though... lol.. but anyways its good to hear that you got it working.
