Down the bottom of Nard's previously linked Picasa pics you can see how his 2x 2s and single 4s fit in the chassis.

73mm / 2.87'' wide and 80mm 3.15'' long

But I doubt it would create more space because the motor is sticking out more then my battery tray (again with stock spur and pinion). For the weight distribution it is not needed and as you can see you would need some modding to get it to fit up front.

Not without mods. You could attach it to the handlebar somehow.

Well lots last sunday and it jumped really well. I will upload a 'raw' video today of some jumps (hopefully).

Sorry that it took this long.

EDIT: movie is online. Not the best because of the angle but it shows a bit.

Many thanks.

Btw i meant from the base of the ESC to the base of the shock tower. Since you have a ruler in the pic though i figured out that distance is around 45mm which is what it is on my Flux now. My ESC used to be about 40mm from the base of the tower and it would get hit and the wires damaged on the occasional bad landing. No damage since i moved it, though i haven't done that many runs yet.

Ahh I see what you mean:

I also damaged one wire when it was still in stock form. The ESC mount does give you some flexibility to move the esc back and forward a little. Of course you could always mount it sidewards ;)

Is there any reason that more battery space couldn't be created by using a larger spur gear (say 52 tooth) and the corresponding pinion to keep the same gear ratio?

If the motor wouldn't be the limit anymore the ESC plate would be the next thing that would get in the way. I could measure the room available when I get home this afternoon.

I bought a slightly used kit from a fellow forum member and a Flux last week. I look forward to building this and getting a 1717 or a 1527 to fit ?!
Thanks for all your help and answering my questions.

I saw the kit for sale indeed. A 1717 or 1527 would be monsters for this car!!

I'm looking into making a center diff in this Flux. The gearbox doesn't really add anything except for extra rotation mass, noise and wear (although this last one is not noticeable).
