I have yet to order anything from HC and don't intend to start anytime soon. I'll keep ordering from companies here in the US so when I have a problem I don't have to pay $30+ to ship it back. You can get lipos from Neu at about the same cost as HC, and for a servo you can get the Tower packaged Hitec 7955 ( don't know the Tower model #) for $90 before a discount

You can buy hardcase LiPos for less than $30 from Neu? I doubt it...
Maybe not a hardcase but I don't have any use for a hardcase, a 5s 5000mah from HC with shipping was gonna cost about $100, dropping down to 4s this year but going up to 5500mah from Neu and with shipping cost me $84
Ordering from HC has always been something I've gone back and forth on. That was my main reservation on trying the new servo. I had some points to redeem at HC so the servo came to $62 shipped. The two main questions are (a) will the quality be there at least close to a Hitec, and (b) will the $30 savings be worth it if the servo dies and I have more of a hassle dealing with warranty and support. Will have to wait and see.
Embrace the global economy- half the stuff we buy these days is made in china or korea etc etc; especially electrical goods, and batteries in particular. Just because its got an American flag on the box dont make American- look at MA lipos for example; chinese cells imported to the USA to be assembled into packs = massive price mark up.
I'm thinking of ordering one of these:
Turnigy HV-767 Digital HV-2S Servo 31kg/ .118sec / 78g
But they didn't state which servo horns they use. Airtronics, JR, Futaba, etc?
It's not a good idea to simply run a HV servo directly plugged into the receiver?
I know Spektrum receivers can handle up to about 9-9.5V so the voltage isn't a problem. Not sure on other brands. Maybe if the servo was drawing too much current it could cause problems, but that could happen at lower voltages also.
It says lipo with regulator so it probably doesn't take 8V.
I had used a 2S lipo without a regulator on my predator maxx and race revo which uses the 3PM rx and Hitec 5955TG servo. All the components are still working though they don't get as much attention compared to my flashlights .
