The tranny doen't care which direction it spins. In fact, I have turned the tranny around on several e-maxxes for different reasons. Also, with brushless, you don't have to flip the diffs - just reverse the motor rotation.
For the press pins on the emaxx input shaft - they are surprisingly strong, but I have managed to break a couple over time. I replaced them with HPI press pins (little thicker - drilled out gears and shaft slightly) and haven't had any failures since.
