Traxxas doesn't make any 1/8 stuff, because they don't make any 1/8 vehicles...all Maxxes, Revos, Summits, etc. are 1/10 scale.

Who cares? My point was that none of the mainstream maufacurers put the same kind of detail into the bigger vehicles 1/10th, 1/8th, 1/5th etc... that they do the smaller stuff, and I am sure that it is all about saving money. Sorry I only wrote 1/8 and confused you. Plus I was not particularly talking about Traxxas either. You can tell that some real thought went into the R&D for that diff.

My bad...since we were ALL talking about Traxxas, I just assumed you meant Traxxas as well, and I just wanted to let you know that Traxxas didn't make any 1/8 parts or vehicles (in case you didn't know)...especially since a LOT of people think that the Maxxes & Revos are 1/8, when in fact they are just 1/10.
You did not confuse me in any way, I thought you were confused, so I was trying to clear things up for you.
Anyway, I agree, the diff I posted is pretty awesome, and would make a great upgrade for the Maxx/Revo-Based vehicles if it were larger. Actually, I wish Traxxas would make a drop-in 4-spider diff upgrade for the Maxx/Revo-Based vehicles, but since that is a common 1/8 scale type diff, I am sure Traxxas won't do it, and will stick with their standard 2-spider diffs to maintain the 1/10 scale rating.
I have to say, though, that if anyone just can't seem to keep their Traxxas diffs together, Mike's Hybrids are the absolute best way to go...PERIOD! If you can't get Mike's Hybrid diffs, the next-best thing to do is modify and install Losi LST diffs...they have proved to be an excellent upgrade, and many people are running them. I, myself, want to find a way to install & run a set of UE/Ofna 8-Spider diffs in my Revo...they are the best diffs ever created IMHO! Maybe Mike's upcoming Hybrid cases will be able to hold 8-Spiders...if they do, I will be a very happy camper!

No hard feelings -
05.13.2010, 07:46 AM
No hard feelings Chad. I guess I did not state my case very well either. Still we all get the point. I'm glad we could clear the air without it becoming a blowout issue. That diff really does look interesting though doesn't it? Who knows what they might be willing to do if there is a stated demand for it.
The RCM/Fastlane Hybrid diff setup is the best idea to come out for the Maxx/Revo line for the price, BUT for sure the UE VBS is the elite or Cadilac diff setup if you have the cash and can find a set for sale. I just picked up a set myself, but paid nearly $1000 for the pair fully assembled with 8 spider gears installed. It is like having a precious piece of artwork, and it is impresive to look at.
I have three of Mikes hybird diff sets fully assembled and installed on three of our Maxx trucks, and now I have the VBS for my next project/build, which I am hoping will be one of Matt's re-designed Maxxler chassis setups.

Yeah, it kinda had my hopes up too.
It's time to replace yet another rear diff in my E Revo.
The first rear diff failure was some broken teeth on the pinion.
This second one stripped out the spider gears.
I know we're putting alot of power to the ground now, but I really wish there was a bullet proof option.

Might take some custom fabbing, but this should do it.

What can be done to upgrade the stock E Revo diffs?
I'm seeing Aluminum Diff Cases and Cups. Do they really help that much?

That was scary. I thought for sure you were going to post a pic of a Barca Lounger recliner chair. That is one nice looking BMW diff though.
