The 4-polers (4363) almost have the same dimensions as the old Hobbywing 4465 motor... and that guy have no problem powering a Savage conversion.

i don't think the motor would have enough size. the hobbywing motor has a smooth can and the infinity motor only has a 40mm can with 3mm fins, which means a smaller rotor. it might work if you gear for less than 40mph, but i would just get a cc2200kv motor. mine runs very cool in my extended savage flux.
They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

Jason, leave the wires alone. It's not worth the hassle to shorten them, serious PITA to clean the wires. No solvent touches that varnish shiz, needs to be burned then scraped clean.

First impressions seem pretty good. Construction feels solid, not much play in the rotor. The both endbells are secured with screws. I tried to open it up to inspect the rotor, but with the screws removed the endbells still wouldn't budge. I would guess they are either epoxied on, threaded on, or just a really tight fit, I didn't spend much time trying, so maybe I will try more to open it later.
The front endbell allows the use of 3mm or 4mm mounting screws. The wires exiting the rear endbell are extensions of the windings, just like a Neu. You can see they are much longer than Neu leads, so I will probably shorten them. IMO it would have been a better idea to use silicone wire like a Castle motor if they wanted to make the leads that long.
The rotor has the distinct "notchy" feel when turned by hand. I would say the magnet strength feels equivalent to a Neu 1512, maybe a little less, but I will have to try turning both by hand together to get a better comparison.
Hoping to be able to run this in the next few days. Shortening the leads might be a chore, if you know a good way to remove the enamel coating from the winding leads post here or send me a PM. I'll update more once I get a chance to run the motor.

Looks exactly like the Orion motor that comes in the Kyosho Inferno VE. Even the wires are the same.
Just no logos....
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

I got the motor installed in my buggy tonight, so weather-permitting I'll get to drive it tomorrow and get some feedback on how it performs.

Haha, speaking of old Ofna buggies...
A friend of mine is trading me his all stock, all original, 1st Generation Ofna Ultra GT LX 1/8 Buggy for a TQ3 Tx & Rx of mine, and I can't decide what I want to do with it once I get it. It is basically still brand-new, having only been broken in (and I did that for him, on grass, so no scratches on the chassis) and then put on a shelf in his closet. He just got into nitro on-road right after buying it and never touched it again.
I don't know if I should put it up and keep it as an original, untouched buggy, or just go nuts with it and install a brushless system that is just way, way overkill...just for the fun of it!
Edit: I think it is an Ultra GT LX, not an Ultra LX...it's like Ofna's very first 1/8 nitro buggy, or damn close to the first!

Unfortunately it looks like we're going to get rain today, it's not raining right now, but by the time I could run later this evening it probably will be. Anyway, I'll still get some feedback for you ASAP.

I found it funny that on the same page as the 100+amp speed-o's that they had 3.5mm bullets and nothing bigger. WF?
Buying some chinese stuff it worth saving a few bucks on but when it comes to 100+amp Speed-o's, spend more $$ for something that'll last and have customer service at least.

I have been really slacking, still haven't run my buggy with the OK Hobby motor. I promise I will have a report in the next few days. Just super busy with a new job and most of my RC time has been going towards working on my CRT .5

Be happy that someone is supporting the lower cost/quality brands... that way CC, Neu, whatever have to stay sharp ;)
Looking forward to your report Champ!
Also looking for a cheap "ok quality" 4 pole motor which can power a Savage XL without running hot... I fear I'll have to look for quite some time.

http://lightflightrc.com/ Arc 36-75-1 gets my vote. I have one in my Muggy and have thrashed it pretty good in the last week. I think it would power your Savage XL just nicely.

you can get a castle 2200 motor on e-bay for that same price. my castle 2200 motor rarely breaks 120f in my extended savage flux.
edit: rc-monster also has the castle 2200 motor for $140. that is the cheapest non-e-bay price you will find.

Some day I'll start listening... I know youve already been down the road Im on Scarlet
For now I'll drive th KB45 and the Ezrun 4465... if some cheap 4 pole experiment comes along I'll try it. Otherwise I'll cave in and get the standard motor at some point.
