This controller is for car???

360 euro (gonna have to convert that). But from a guess thats $450 u.s

well so far i have read mostly very positiv comments on the kontronik controllers. and that power jazz looks supernice!
i have emailed kontronik about it and asked them if it will come out with a car software, and mentioned that it would be quite interesting because on the plettenberg site it is stated, that the plettis work well with the kontronik controllers. so a strong kontronik controller would be a real alternative for the schulze and bla bla bla.
the answer was that the power jazz will come out around may 06, no car software is planned as they do not have time to do this and that they were aware of all i had written. :frown:
how nice.... looks like they are very focussed on airplane stuff.

Here is some information on the kontronik esc: I have two jazz controllers. One is the 40-6-18 esc and the other is the 55-10-32 esc. Both are universal controllers, which means you can use them with cars, planes and boats. Its a programming friendly, just like the bk warriors. You only need to take out a black jumper to program, but the only thing I hated about these things, though they are super small, smaller even than the schulze, is that they thermal alot. I used the 40-6-18 with the kontronik fun480-42 and it thermaled and the motor stutterred alot. The 55-10-32 esc was used with the 1920/8 and it also thermaled, but the motor did not stutter and the smoothness was incredible. Once you convert to car mode, the EMF brake turns into proportional brake and a very smooth one, really. They dont have a heat sink and this is a minus. The 40-6-18( built in bec) and the 55-10-32( no bec) do not produce a good deal of amps. 40-6-18= 40 amps cont. and 55 surge- 6-18 cells. 55-10-32= 55 amps cont. and 70 surge-10-32 cells. I guess the one posted here is also car programmable with proportional brakes, if needed. Mr. Franz of kontronik told me the 55-10-32 is not compatible with rc-cars, but it worked with me with a bit of trouble. The 1920/8 over worked the esc, I guess.

This controller has got an EMF brake only captain. No proportional. any normal car controller (except for the small mamba and the supersized schulzes) use a heatsink. And even with the heatsinks, it can suffer a thermal shutdown. I don't know if the controllers you've got are an honest compare.

They are, dude, but, atleast, the kontronik company wont be as annoying as schulze. In customer service, that is.

What do you mean with 'they are'? in my personal opinion a controller with a heatsink and a fan can't be taken as reference for two without a heatsink if that's what you are talking about? No offense taken though, but heat-shrink isn't known for it's superior heat transfer.

When I said "they are", I meant in comparison to the phenomenon of (shutting down). Mine shut down( even with a cooling fan) as much as the schulze ( I've never experienced a shutt down with my schulze(s). I did not take the heatsink and cooling fan under consideration, BTY, and that is why I said what I said. Also, I absolutely agree that a heat shrink would not be an effective heat eradicator like a heat sink and I haven't said that in my post, either.
