OOOh, this sounds like a great idea.

This what we need?

Also, what is this copper piece you guys are talking about?

The copper piece presses into the spur gear so it can spin on the shaft when the the slipper slips, its basically just a bushing. You can see where it goes in the picture that you linked to.

Built Ford tough, with Chevy stuff.
