On the track, i run 4S. if i'm jumping, usually 5 or 6S depending how much air i want.

I am not easy on the truck at all but don't go driving it into solid objects neither.
On the other hand my friend has an RC8Be and treats that thing like absolute crap. He isn't very good at controlling it in the air so most of his landings are crash landings. He also manages to whoop my but on the hard stuff to by easily out accelerating my Revo. The only place that the Revo has an edge over his buggy is over the rutted and very uneven surfaces. The extra suspension travel and bigger wheels soak up the bumps much better. Also his upkeep is way less than what I have to fork out. Not talking about the breakages but consumables like tires and such. Everything seems cheaper for his buggy.
I liked driving his RC8Be so much that I have one in the mail. Should be here tomorrow. I still want a truggy as I like the size of the Revo and want something similar but the Revos weak drivetrain is just pissing me off at the moment. Want to get the RC8T FT and convert it. This way the two could share a lot of common parts. With the Revo I think I will change the motor back to stock, clean it up and then pass it onto my father. He is much more gentle than I so it should last in his hands. I still have another unused Revo that I will keep on the shelf.

wow...that's just about the complete opposite of what my experience has been. here's the God's honest truth. Between my buddy and i we have a losi 8ight, 2 rc8's and an RC8TE...we run at an abandoned motorcross track near where we live, race at a fairly new track and parking lot jump 3 days a week for the most part. every one of them has broken, but the e-revo keeps going and going.
i'd like to try to help you pin point maybe where you might have a setup issue.
First, i've been driving for many many years...goin on 25. jumping correctly is 90% of the equasion. i assume you know how to correct the attitude midair? and how to land? and how to approach the jump?
the second thing is suspension setup. i rarely ever completely bottom out. i run purple springs on the front with 80wt oil and 70wt in the rear with blue springs. i use GRP big block tires 2350 motor 68/22 modified motor plate
my other revo uses 100wt in the front and rear with blue springs. that one i can launch. i use badlands for tires. 2200 motor stock gearing
my race revo has blue springs all around with 80wt oil and city block tires. it handles pretty well and i like it fairly loose. 2200 motor stock gearing.
as far as how it handles against the RC8TE...well, the TE handles better on every area of the track, but mine hasn't broken. his has. maybe that has to do with my driving ability. with the bent stub axles and such, it makes me think you might be crashing alot. if that's the case, that might be 90% of your issue.
my issue with the buggies are they always take such a beating on my track. the chassis' get beaten to shit and the radio trays crack from the shock of landings and i've bent 2 motor mounts not to mention a few sets of front and rear driveshafts and the front and rear cvds. imo, they aren't anywhere as durable as my revos. i have an almost new 8ight that i just don't wanna drive anymore because i almost beat my RC8 to death. if i can get a few hundred bucks out of it to put towards somehting for my revo, then imo, it's worth it.
