Buggies and drifting?

Does anyone (RC manufacturers) actually make a 1/8 buggy-sized drift tire/wheel? I haven't really seen anyone build a drift-specific 1/8, they are all 1/10 sedan, so I guess there probably isn't much of a market for them.

Maybe make some out of that black ABS pipe like some do for the 1/10 drift cars if you found the right diameter pipe?

There doesn't seem to be much specificly for 1/8 drifting does there. I'd like to know if I can buy a spool to fit the rc8? I know I can just lock the diff but it would just be easier to keep track of whats in the car at a glance.

Quite frankly who wants to spend the time and money BL converting an 1/8th scale then put on plastic tyres and go round at 5mph because you have no traction? Only little girls like the one in pinkpanda's avatar who should be left to their >1/10th scale toys, thats who! You may as well have saved your money and used a 27t 540 motor/ tamiya ESC and 6 cell NiMh pack.

Fortunately you are not that little girl, you came to RCMonster and did a BL/LiPo conversion that has enough power to make a mockery of any tires, so stick your hand down your shorts, check you have a pair, say to yourself "Real men drift on RUBBER!" then go outside and see how fast you can get round that corner sideways.

1/8th scale on-road buggys/GT cars/RallyGame cars whatever you want to call them are practically made for drifting, even the IC RTR ones have bigger engines with enough torque to step the back out at speed, lots come with spools or 2 speeds and no CD, have a look at some videos on youtube, I bet you find more drifting in car parks than using a grip style around them, and all on rubber.

I've never really looked at AE's range, spares aren't available enough over here but if they havent come out with an 1/8th on road yet it is doubtful they will have a centre spool available, however depending on the size of the diff you may be able to fit either the Hot Bodies or Ofna spools in with a little shimming, Kyosho used a 2 speed not a spool and most of the proper rallygame MFGs use belt drive so they are the only 2 1/8th scale spools I know of.

Fair comment nativeboy but it doesn't stop one from wondering if there is a purpose made tire. I was hoping for something that would be longer lasting. I know chewing the tires is all part of drifting but I am also not interested in pvc pipe or whatevers... I guess foamies won't last either? What's with the real men BS? I know countless that think real men only play with 1:1 cars. Anyway glad to know a real man likes my avatar

I have already ordered 6 sets(4) of the tires mac3194 suggested. They seemed cheap and were recommended.

So there is only 2 spools to look at ,thanks. I'll see if i can make one fit.

Report back on those Ebay tires after you get a chance to run them. I have some of the off-road ones from the same seller (Badlands and Caliber clones), and they are OK for bashing. Rubber compound is probably a bit firm for racing.

Now that my Jammin is converted to on-road I think I might try some of the slicks from them. I really wish they had a treaded radial on-road tire, but the slicks should be fine too.

I got to try them out yesterday for speed runs. 6s is crazy with 25/47 for drifting there good for 3s and 4s but with higher voltage ur just gonna spin out to easy but I think that has to do with my locked diff..

What kind of speeds did you get them up to? How were they as far as ballooning and also the balance?

Theye were pretty well balanced and there was only about 1/2 inch Of ballooning but I could barely tell because i was going pretty damm fast lol maybe about 60-70mph on 6s
