You will need to do a lot to hit 100 and it will take some time and experimentation. Due to the drag at high speeds the body will take a lot of work and customization to get right. I would even consider a gyro for the steering.

Personally I would look at the 2200 but maybe even go to a 1518 or 1520 sized motor and gear up. Possibly skip the MMM and get a phoenix so you can run 8-10s lipo and then use a mechanical brake as a motor brake coming down from 100 will really heat things up.

There are several people on here that have done setups like this and you will get plenty of advice I am sure.

The motor partly depends on availible gearing options and the amount of voltage you are going to run. If you're going to stay with 6s, and don't mind waiting for things too cool down between runs the 2650 or 2200 is good. If you have the gearing options or are going with more than 6s, the torquier 1518 or 1520 could suit your needs quite well. Either way 6s would be the minimum for cracking 100mph. One of my many winter projects will be a Losi 8ight running 8s on a 1518 or 1520 (have both and will try both) with the new MambaXL to make some speed runs. Should have a helluva lot of torque and pull any gear I throw at it.

As TexasSP mentioned aerodynamics will be an issue. A couple of things you have to do.

1. Make some sort of brackets to hold the sides of the body (bottom of the doors) so it doesn't flap around.

2.Fill or cover the hole in the windshield, same for the back window if there is one there too.

3. Cut the back portion of the wing off where the sticker "Protouring" is. At those speeds it'll make too much downforce, bottoming out the rear of the car and lifting the front which will make it blow over backwards. Leave the vertical sides in place for stability.

Those are the basics. I'm sure some of our resident guru's can chime in with other suggestions and how to implement them. Do some searching of the site, theres a bunch of info on what's been done to get where you are going. BTW, welcome to the forums!

I'm not overly familiar with the platform but 6S/2200 combo should get you to 100mph & a little beyond with some fine tuning

I'll say the MA packs are the least likely to get anyone's vote here . The TP are probably OK but I'd seriously consider the Hyperion packs from Mike (RC Monster) there's some good pricing at the moment. Hyperion's are my favourite for high load scenarios. The Nano's from HK are also amazing for the price

You may also like to try the GRP MO1 rally tyres, they come in a belted version that is very durable & rock solid at high RPM. I'm assuming you're running OFNA's on the front in the pics

Post lots of pictures & video of your build

Like PBO said the 6s/2200 combo will get you there, just don't expect to make alot of back to back runs with no cool down time. But you could probably gear it for 50mph and play all day without worrying about temps. The beauty of a bigger motor with lower Kv is the greater torque and efficiency. The 8s/1520 combo I described in my last post could probably run around 75mph all day without overheating. But it's more costly and a little more complicated too.

As far as lipo's, there are better percorming packs than the Maxamps for the same or less money. My personal favorite is Hyperion also, and have used some Turnigy packs with great success as well. Check out the RC-Monster store for Hyperions that will outperform both those packs that you linked.

His fronts look like GRP, I think the rears are Ofna slicks which will never hold up. Get the GRP's and you'll have no worries about a tire blowing off the rim.

Do not get maxamps packs, they are guaranteed to fail. I cannot warn you away quick enough from them.

If you are serious about 100, I wouldn't waste your time on 6s and the 2200. Go right to the 1518 or 1520 and do 8s.

The 2200 will get you there, but on 6s geared high it starts overheating easily. That car weighs a fair amount and having a bigger motor will be a benefit.

Like Overdriven said, if you want to gear for around 50-60 on 6s with the 2200 you will probably be fine. It's just that the difference in power to go from 50 to 100 does not double, it compounds. Do some researching on aerodynamics and such and you will find how much resistance compounds going that fast.

FWIW, if this is your first BL vehicle I think a MMM/2200/6s combo geard for 50-60mph would be a good starting point to get you used to driving a BL car. Then after you've had enough fun with that you can modify it for more speed.

Yea, you'd be suprised how fast that is, and how quick a BL setup like the 6s/mmm/2200 combo can get it there! So I tend to agree, get the MMM/2200/6s and go from there. You may only throw the big pinion on a few times and get bored with going around 100mph. And you can always sell or put the MMM combo in something else.

But the easiest way to run 8s is with a controller like the Castle MambaXL
http://www.castlecreations.com/products/mamba_xl.html
Its a car controller, it has motor brakes, has a BEC, makes things simple. Only problem is its a bunch bigger than the MMM, and mounting 8s would generally mean 2 battery trays with 4s on each side, so theres that to figure out too.

The other option is air controllers like the Phoenix ICE HV line
http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...ix_ice_hv.html
These, like other air controllers, don't have a BEC (need an external one or a rx pack), doesn't have brakes (requiring mechanical brakes with a servo), and you need a Pistix adapter to use it with a typical pistol grip car controller. But you can run more voltage than the MambaXL

Hi mate, converting a DM1 is hard. But here are some things that may help you. If you convert to single speed you will have to re-drill the center part of the chassis as the two speed is longer and if you are going to aim for 100mph is probably a better option especially with mechanical brake.
Before you go rushing into what packs and motor and speedy do some research and see how much room you actually have on the chassis. Are you going to run the motor on the right where the rx box is or are you going to put it at the left front so you can run two packs at the back of the car. the only reason i say that is the DM1 chassis is very narrow and does not allow itself well to have one large pack on the one side.

This is only what i found when i converted mine here is a pic.
