2200kv Rotor Magnets Shattered.... - 07.02.2012, 04:35 PM

I ran 6s in my buggy as normal... and then this happens!!!!!!! Completely ruined my bashing session and my day!!! Not like i was running ridiculous gearing either. I hope castle can sort me out as I can't use my Losi 8 2.0 anymore :(

Gearing wouldn't make any odds, it the motor rpms that do something like that; first shattered Castle rotor I've seen from these motors...

Contact the support department:

http://www.castlecreations.com/support.html

Is the inside of the motor damaged, damaged windings of stator? If not, a rebuild kit should do the trick, otherwise whole new motor needed- if it's over 12 months old then it'll be a non-warranty repair fee...

Oh there have been plenty of shattered rotors on brushless motors.

This is the first Castle/Neu motor with it's superior kevlar wrapping that we have seen 'sploded.

We've seen a few come back with shattered rotors, but it's very rare.

If you can't get a good resolution from Tech Support (I imagine they will just send you a rebuild kit...) let me know here.

Now that's good service. I doubt the president of any other company will give such a response on a forum!! Customer service with a BIG Capital C & S.
I have a few Castle products and have not had any need to contact them for service but am impressed all the same.

My 2200 motor seized up yesterday...the magnets are just starting to break(not as crazy as the op's). Im definitely not complaining as I have been abusing this motor for over two years now. My question is , will the rebuild kit work for me?

Here's some crappy pics. Hopefully you can see well enough to advise me if I can rebuild. Or just buy a new motor...thanks.

Inside of the motor looks good to me- the magnets would tear it up something nasty and you'd definitely see the scaring if that was the case. Might just wanna use a clean rag or old toothbrush to clean the inside of the motor while it's open, then a new rotor kit should do the trick nicely...

Can I use my wife's toothbrush, and not tell her? Should I use colgate whitening paste? I have heard that 10 out of 5 dentists recommend not using a toothbrush as a replacement for a rectal suppository applicator. Is that true? Neil, I know you are basically one step below the all-mighty (you are about level with the pope) so you should be albe to answer these questions.

Sure, use wifeys brush but be careful not to get any grease on it. Don't use any paste or lube on the brush ( just insert it into the hole dry ). I can think of worse things to use as a suppository applicator ( hamster & toilet tube delivery system? ). I'm one step ahead of the pope though, I don't try to cover up scandals concerning children and catholic priests...
