Very good question. From my understanding, punch control tends to work by limiting the spool-up speed of the motor, where as torque control limits the torque of the motor ( when there is a load on it however- no load = can still spool up quickly ). I would hazard a guess and say more punch control would indeed limit how well you can control the truck in the air ( I have zero skill in that area, only random luck ), so if you can activate the torque control feature on your esc, give that a try instead maybe..
