Old drift buggy back in commision - 01.30.2013, 08:49 PM

Been packed up for close to 4 years. Pics below. Was a drift setup but in all honesty I paid and a friend built. Plus the 4 years have only added to my lack of knowledge.

Here goes. Looking to transform this into a street car and not a drifter. Looking for Spur and Pinion gear advice and of course, tires. I would like to peel out a little bit but still grip on turns. Not on a track, just in the street.

Havok 8.5 - http://www.ehobbies.com/nov3038.html

On this car setup, what is my Pinion and Spur setup when using top of the line 4600MAH batteries when not trying to fry anying?

I still run TC-3's.... bought one brand new back in 99' or 2000..... Essentially the same car.

If I recall, I haven't checked it in years, but I run a 4600KV setup on 2S with a 69T spur and 20T pinion. Nothing ever gets hot, and it's an OG Castle system. I have been running it that way for over five years now and just run the piss out of it.

Sweet setup.

Was running the other day and no more rear power when on the ground. If I pick it up then the rear spins. Did I burn something up? All because of the new street tires lol

If it's not clicking, it sounds like a ball diff let loose. If it's clicking, you stripped a ring or pinion.

You can get a 2.5mm allen wrench in one side and see if tightening it up helps. There's a bolt that goes through the diff and holds the balls, spring, washers, and d-rings in place. If that gets too loose, the diff will slip.

Its going to be inside one of the out drives of the diff. I couldn't tell you which side though, its been years since I messed with one of these. Just pop off the top ball cups and check each side, tighten it until it drives like you want it to. If it won't tighten enough, its time for a rebuild.

Long outdrive side, so it's going to be on the left hand side of the rear, and the right hand side of the front. If I remember correctly....

Link works fine. That's quite a bit of stuff for us to give a price on. Your best bet is to add up the total it currently costs new, and knock it in half (or more/less depending on condition). Great condition can go for up to 80% of new, pretty beat up can go down to 25% or even worthless.
