Then something is wrong. Just look at nitro buggies, hardened gear on clutchbell against hardened spur: lasts quite some time.
I would guess either your pinions are not correctly hardened, or your mesh is too tight.

We should have some hardened pinions rather soon, actually. The stripped plastic spur may very well be a result of motor flex, though. If the gear mesh is set properly and doesn't change, the gears are pretty tough to strip. The hardened pinions will be pretty bulletproof, though.

Hi Mike,

Sorry for the late reply. The stripped plastic gear is my mistake. I thought it was a rather good idea to tape up the slot below the spur thinking thsat it will help sand from getting into the mesh. It had the opposite effect.
