I would try the Savage X slipper. I think the bearing might solve your problem though.

i picked up some bearings this morning. I will let you know if it fixes me up this afternoon. BTW I think alot of the heat that was being generated with the metal spur was the pinion spur meshing. When I pulled the pinion off the leading edges were all kinda rounded. So that must have been some serious friction being generated there. I didn't notice any spur wear on the plastic before the center heated up and melted out. Also the pad was in good shape and I got better acceleration than I did with the metal spur.
So we'll see. I'll try it this evening and post back

Well I tried the bearing and it lasted one trip down the driveway and back up ok. Then I hit the yard, and with the grass it smoked the pinion in about 40 yards. I am positive it is near the shaft (bearing area) smoke was rolling up out of that area, and the pinion wasn't disformed anywhere I could see. I didn't tear it down to diagnose. It is lucky I didn't run over it in my truck.
I am done. Any one want to buy a hardly used 7xl and 9920? I'll keep the other 9920 and 7xl for a little while, to put in my emaxx maybe. I think I would be much happier with a sensored configuration. I can't stand the cogging. not that I really saw much, didn't get a chance to. but with what I see on my mamba's in my rc18's, it really sucks anyways.
I think I'll stick to nitro or go with a truck that has more options for drive train attachment.
Squee you are right though the savage x slipper looks like the best bet anyway. for anyone else that may have similar issues. Maybe I'll cool down and try something else some other time. For now I'm gonna get the truckzilla kit. It'll give my genesis a little race maybe. I might also get a nemesis 7.7
My boy has gotten out of the scared of the sound from the nitro's stage and that is all he wants to run now anyway.

Well I going to try the x slipper and spur on mind. I will put more power thru it than a small 7xl. :D I can let you know if the slipper holds longer than the rest of the driveline. I hope i can make a few passes anyway. ;)

Peace!

I'll be watching..meanwhile I got the truckzilla today..So I'll be putting all of the throttle and linkages back on now. Wouldn't you know it though ....Something inside my CEN 7.7 engine snapped on my Genesis tonight. It must just be a sign. that this is not my month for RC.
