Going BL on my Savage - 01.11.2007, 11:10 AM

I just fell onto you guys. Any advice on set ups? I am into crawling but would still like to bash a bit. I have reverse and a 3 speed installed. Lots of aluminum due to my nitro bashing days. Extended Chassis and MIP CVD's all around.

I just ordered the brushless conversion kit from Kershaw Designs with the 13T pinion and I ordered a 9T pinion.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
John

I would go with like a 9xl. You could run on 14 cells with good power and still have a fair speed.

What is a 9xl? I purchased a conversion kit from Kershaw Designs. It comes with a 13T Mod1 Pinion and I ordered a 9T. I am new to this. What would be my best setup for brushless. Like I said I have the 3 speed in it. I would like to be able to do some minor crawling and have the speed for bashing.

Thanks for your help.

John

Anytime!

If you have got another question, please feel free to ask.. It's not my intention to scare you off with pointing you to that FAQ, but i think it's a relative easy to understand story with useful info for 'starters'

I'll tell you what...I got into rc rock crawling about a year ago and am active on rccrawler.com. It is amazing the willingness people are to help people through a hobby. It is so great to say that I am part of this interest. Most of the people I talk to are very willing to help or point you in the direction you need. My excitement is doing the research and picking other peoples brains.

Thanks again,
John

Great!

I think with the help of Brians speed calculator you can find your way in choosing a motor and the right pinion. if you need any confirmation, just post your choice.

OK here is what I am looking at:

1) Brushless…not sure yet…probably Lipo

2) Currently running 40 series Moabs tires.

3) She weighs in at a wopping 13 lbs. That is with all the nitro stuff still on it.

This truck is hopped up with a lot of aluminum and HD drivetrain. It has the 3 speed tranny and reverse. I would like to rock crawl a little but mainly backyard bash. I am out of the nitro scene and tried to sell it. Too much into it to sell so I thought I would go this angle.

I do have some of the plastic stock parts that I could put back on to lower the weight.

How about this setup:

Feigao 9L with a Castle Creations Phoenix 80 (not sure if I am going Lipo)

Any thoughts.

Thanks for the input.

John

They nice man. Thanks for posting them.
I haven't got mine yet. I got some for buying purposes.
It is stock for most part. I don't want an all out crawler.
Something more like you have planned on savage.
I was wonder if could put a 3 speed on a crawler with 4 link suspension.
I think that be kind of tight.

Peace!

I wouldn't go phoenix for it is a airplane contoller.
4s lipo 10L motor and a castle mamba maxx with ubec would get you going
nicely. It wouldn't be a speed demon.

Peace!
