Yes, that was Snell that I was racing...I tried going to mod-1 at one point with a Neu motor (and 2000 Watts). I found that the additional weight from the motor-ESC-battery took away from overall performance. I like it much better with a MM and the 1/8 motor, the car weighs in around 4lbs and 800 watts is fast and easily controllable. Running lighter, I am able to road race, drag race, or go off-road racing by just changing the tires.

Yeah, I bought a 1509 for my Rustler from ImpaktRC...Make sure you get the smooth can because the finned one doesn't fit if you are still using the stock transmission case.

Mod-1 is doable but it does limit the pinions that can be used...I find that the 64p gives more and better gearing options...I have had far more problems with the drive shafts when I used the Neu.

That 1506/2.5Y/S is also 2200kv, so it would be perfect, IMO.

yup thats the one i was looking at in the 1st post, is it actually better than the medusa though?

IMO, Neu quality is top notch and hard to duplicate. Therefore I would say that quality wise, it is better than the Medusa.

I personally didn't like the medusa in my Rustler, as the motor lacks in the topend. It just didn't have the umph I am used to with my other motors. The neu is a better motor for sure. The medusa did very well in my crt.5 running a short oval as it topped out quickly.

Personally, I love the Medusa motors. They may not quite be at the same level as a Neu, but definitely the best bang for the buck IMO.

I have a 50mm Medusa in my Slash, CRT.5, and 4-tec conversion, and they all perform very well and never get more than ~130*F. In my XT8, I have a 80mm Medusa (2200 kv), but it gets a little warm for my liking after an extended run (around 150-160*F judging by touch which is not accurate I know). I attribute that to gearing limitations though; I can only gear down so much. I'm waiting for Castle's 1800kv motors and then the Medusa will find a new home in my MBX5 Corr, or the Hyper8.

+1 I know the Neu is top of the line quality but I like Medusa better in my Rustler...and I am using the 5900kv in my TC5...

but if I was looking for a 5mm shaft motor, it would be really hard to do better than the 1506 Neu for $130...just have lots of spare drive shafts.

BTW: Medusa does have 5mm shaft versions...

You will need flm cvd's all others will break with.

lol driveshafts are fine, twisted the stockers off with the 9L so have FLM CVDs on now, although they are bent aswell

also the medusa and neu motors look very open, im sure it helps cooling alot but doesnt dirt get in and ruin them?

A little foil tape on the rear endbell is a cheap & easy solution. Also the sticky part of the tape, where it covers the holes, will catch anything that does get in.

Agreed, but at the ~ same cost, I think I would go Neu at 5mm. I like especially like Medusa because it enables something that Neu can't...a 1/8 shaft...

Yes, they are both open so if you are running through sand and mud, put a little tape on the holes...

I broke everything that wasn't made of steel and I still had to build a custom slipper shaft. I am now using HPI dogbones...all steel.

Who says Neu does offer the 15 series with an 1/8 shaft.....
