Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!
I fly, I drive, but most of all I crash.

The medusa's holes haven't been a problem for me (running the 50mm 4800kv motor on 3s.... ). Brushed motors have open endbells, and vents in the cans. They hold up just fine offroad, and if anything, they have more potential to get screwed up because the windings are moving at high angular velocities, so any incoming debris can get smacked by the arm, and possibly sever a winding. Let's also not forget about the commutator and brushes...
The open endbell isn't a big deal unless you have a habit of running through iron filings.
Of course, if it bothers you, cover up the holes like others are doing. Problem solved.

its not a sob story, its just an explanation to why I'm not buying a $100 motor right now, an why I'm pissed that CC isn't going to fix my motor under warrenty.

Well, think of it from their point of view. If you have no documentation to prove you bought the item and that it's still under warranty, then they can't necessarily do a whole lot for ya. It's like going to court with no evidence... kinda pointless.

OK, sounds good. I forgot completely about brushed motor running open, just gotta spray them out every couple of runs and they're good. I live about 8 miles south of Bozeman.

65c actually now I don't feel so guilty for spending my $3000 tax return on rc stuff from the states lol. It's more like an investment
And don't expect it to go up anytime soon either...theyre pushing another 100pt rate cut within the next few months which will probably cause our dollar to drop another 10c. at 17 I guess you didn't feel the pain for us r/c nuts of the '01 exchange rate of 47c.. still cheaper to buy it from tower than getting it retail in oz lol.
