2.5d wont bolt up

Ok the motor on the left is a 1.5d and it will bolt up to the silver finned motor mount in the e-revo (only 2 screws not 4) and the motor on the right is a 2.5d and I can only get 1 screw in

what am I missing?

I'm looking at those two motors and I am wondering a few things:

1 - How old are those motors?

2 - They look like two totally different motors - are they both 15xx series?

3 - It is obvious just from the picture that they have two different screw patterns. The one on the left that fits two screws (usually only 2 screws will mount up on a car mount) is probably a standard 25mm screw pattern, but the one right looks like it has both a smaller screw pattern and also a smaller overall diameter - is it a 15xx series or a 11xx series Neu?

motors are both new
there both 1515 series

so far I just driled another hole in the motor mount and it bolts up fine now with two screws

also the 1.5d has flush screws on the endbell and the 2.5 has surface screws holding the end plate on

Maybe it is the close-up shot that makes the overall diameter of the motors appear different, but the screw mounting pattern is definitely different on the two motors.

I have 6 15xx series Neu motors and the screw pattern on all of them is definitely consistent between all of the motors.

You may want to consider to take a caliper to them (should be 25mm if I am correct) and contact Neu regarding the mismatch.

I have a Tekno Neu 1515 2.5d and it bolted up fine in my E-REVO

The motor on the right seems to use a slightly smaller radius for the screw pattern. I'm just eyeing it. If the motor on the left has a 25mm radius then the other appears to be less than 24mm. Does it have two different radii? 25mm and another? I'm sure Neu wouldn't mind replacing the endbell for you if need be.

yes there differant radi....I just drill another hole in the motor mount and it fits fine now

now the mmm wont calibrate...I have steering but no throttle...the fan is running and you can rev up the fan with the throttle trigger on the tx...lol

reset EPA, and try reversing the channel

did u re-callibrate it?

I had that same problem when I first hooked my v2 up. Hook up the castle link and update the firmware, that solved the problem for me.

someone on traxxas forums nailed it

see i programed the mmm before I calibrated it so this guy said go back to castle link and choose default settings then....calibrate the mmm when your done go back to castle link and program...it worked....plus i had to update the firmware from 3.05 to 3.11

It looks like the motor on the right in the picture is an older Neu. The orignal motors had a smaller screw mounting bolt pattern. I have an old one like that also. I got an adapter plate from Mike for it .

Be carefull drilling holes in the front of the can!!! If you break thru and the drill hits the windings behind it and damages them it could be the end for that motor. You are a brave soul. Thats not something I would have tried.

I think he drilled the motor mount which was the way to go - I bet you could also send it back to neu for the newer design can with the larger bearings...

yes thats what I did...the erevo has a unique swing arm finned motor mount..it was very easy to drill and the motor lines up perfactley and yes it does have smaller bearings than the other motor...this motor is the one that steve neu sent me from there special deals website...i'm sure it has been gone over at there facility...... $100 cant go wrong

well I contacted steve neu and he said cheapest way out would be to make a adaptor plate but I'm wondering if this would work

Nope. Thats just the endbell cover that also gives the motor abit more offset from motor mounts which use mech brakes (conversions).

You'd need to make an adaptor plate with the 25mm mounting pattern that goes to the motor mount, then the smaller ~23-34mm pattern that goes to the motor.
