Unhappy Snapped shaft on Medusa 36-70-1600. - 05.23.2009, 12:13 PM

Hey guys... I was running my truggy on the street yesterday and I heard a small clicking noise and brought it in to check it out. Looked fine, so I kept running. About 30 seconds later, I was accelerating to wheelie, when the truck stopped, starting rolling backwards and made a loud, low-picthed screaming growl sound when I revved the motor to anything above 0, can't really describe it any better. I ran over to look and see WTF had happened, thinking my gear mesh had come off or I blew a diff. To my surprise, I could only see the can of the motor, no shaft. It was gone. About 10 mins later of looking revealed the shaft with the pinion attached to it. Now I have the motor removed. Smells normal and the windings look fine. Motor is not seized but extremely hard to turn, (harder than normal, and sounds really bad when you turn it, indicating either one or both bad bearings...). The drivetrain is free and truck rolls fine, I was on street without any pebbles that could lock the drivetrain. Shaft just sheared off before it enters the front bearing. The snap is recessed about 3/16" from the front of the can. Can medusa replace this or will I have to pay? I can get pictures if needed.
