Question Temporary RX wire fix? Yes/no? - 11.03.2010, 08:21 PM

In a rare event the RX wire(s) pulled apart. Can I put the wires(3) back together without soldering for a couple of weeks until I am able to solder them? Please say yes!

Thanks
Zack

How do you suggest? Tape and loads of care?

Good news!

Strip back .25" from both sides twist together and tape each - Then tape everything.

Yep its still working, in fact I forgot about until I moved my RX. Its been moved right beside my MMM and now that big ugly taped black wire is in the way and too long. I was thinking maybe I could undo the tape and add the RX plug at the end of the old damaged wire piece.

So my question is this... How do I remove the wire from the plug and how do I put it back again once I have removed it?

Thanks,
Zack

The ends of the wires ( inside the plug ) have tiny little metal pins crimped on, it would be pretty much impossible to uncrimp the wires and put the connectors back on again. You could shorten the wires a bit more and then retape, though your best option is to shorten and solder the wires back together, using some very narrow heatshrink tubing to do a cleaner job..

Put a Servo connector on where the wire break is, they do (as stated) crimp on and then just move the receiver.

Ah I see, bummer thanks Neil

Ben,
You mean buy a new open RX plug? I didn't think of that, I'm going to look and see if they sell them.
