28 size 4 pole motors? -
03.13.2011, 05:12 AM
Anyone know if there are any 28 size 4 pole motors made? I just finished a build with an old aveox motor and it really rocks. Would like to find some more, or get something similar.
Basically a neu design but 28mm across instead of 36 or 39.
Did medusa make 28 size 4 poles? Pity they went out of business.

Check out their ARC motors, they have a pretty good selection of 28mm 4-pole. Not sure on the quality, but the prices are cheap.

Maybe try the Tenshocks?
Probably not as easily available in the US as they are here, but anyhow:
TS 1515
TS 1520
TS 1530
TS 1540
If you should consider them, do ask about availabilty and so on!

Lightflight motors look good, but I would like a 1 turn version of the short can.
The tenshock looks to be just what I am looking for... wonder if anyone in the US carries them?

minicatracing is the sole USofA importer for Tenshock Racing products and he does not carry those motors in stock, but he might well be willing to add one to is next order for you.
Not exactly what you are after but have you considered a 6 pole motor? how long or what weight are you after? What KV?
Mega Motors make some very good 28mm 6 pole motors which are the 16 series (16mm diameter rotor) available in numerous lengths from the 48gram 16/7/x (where x= the number of turns) with a 7mm long rotor to the 170gram 16/40/x with a 40mm long rotor they are very popular with EDF and boat guys and many of the popular winds are available from stock in the states. Mega are willing to do custom winds if the KV you are after is not a production item.
Or HETrc which are clones of the Mega Motors but I have used both and the HETs are very good as well, cheaper but available in a much smaller range of sizes and KVs.
Hot Bodies Lightning 2 Pro carbon, Mega 22/30/2, MMM, 4s3-5Ah.
Tamiya F201 carbon, Mamba 7700, MM, 2s A123 2.3ah.
Xray XT8, 1518, MMM, 4s5Ah.
Lots of boats.

Good info there!
The mega 16/15/2 and 3 would work well, but I see that mega has gone out of business in the US... And the europe prices are ball high.
The Hetrc motors looks good, specifically the typhoon edf 2w and 3w. They look like clones of the 16/15, and the prices are much better. Might have to give one a try.

I was checking out those Typhoon motors too. They have a 39x68 1400kv 4-pole that I might want to try on 6S in a buggy I just picked up, but at $120 I think I'd rather just get a Tekin 1400kv.
The smaller motors are probably a better value.

Yeah, I have a hard time paying more than 100 bucks for a motor these days. I got a few from the cc sale, and have scored 1515 NIB cc neu motors of rctech for around 75 shipped. I would like to give their 28 series motors a try.

The 16/15/2 and 3 are there most popular motors and they have lots of dealers in the US that will have those in stock NSP are a shop I trust and they have them at $105
but while I like to support the designers not cloners, the HET edf-2w and 3w are only $50 and though i do have a whole bunch of mega motors of all sizes including the 16/15/2 and 3, nowdays money is tight and I buy HET if the size and KV I'm after is available.
The 39mm typhoon motors were the first Nue clones to come out and I hear there USofA made not Chinese, but I dont have any of the larger HETs to tell you what there like.

A bit off-topic here, but when is the last time you ordered from NSP? I sent them an email a few days ago and have not heard back yet. Their website has had no updates since 2007....and the copyright ran out in 2003. Are they still in business?

I've been looking into this as well, I'd like to find a 28mm 4-6 pole in the 1000kv range for doing a HV 1/10 4WD buggy...
Still have to work out a micro sized mechanical brake setup so I can use a Phoenix ICE HV ESC.
I have been hoping to find a Neu 1112 used, but it just hasn't happened
If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

Did some research and it looks like the EDF-4W-25 would be the closest thing to the Neu I was looking at.

Ha, well I have had great succes with the 27 series 4 pole aveox in a m03 tamiya on road car. So I was wondering what options we have. a 1406 CC motor is a bit overkill, and the kv options are too high. The 1410 is too long and uber overkill for 10th 2wd. I really think 28 series 4 pole+ motors are a great option.
I did have to use an adapter plate to mount the motor, as it had 16 and 19mm bolt patterns and the 540 std is 25mm. You would laugh at the size of the motor compared to a sliver can brushed tamiya motor, looks to be about half the size. But it puts out 3 times the power, maybe more.
I have some longer can aveox 27 series motors, around 50 mm. I am also looking for some sort of slide on heatsink for the 27/28 series, 360 deg design, with a slot cut to allow you to spring it apart for installation.
