24mm truggy hex adapters? Potential 1/5 build plans... - 05.28.2011, 03:08 PM

Ever since I saw the size of the Baja wheels and tires I've wanted to put them on a vehicle and run it on 6s as an ultimate bash rig. I was thinking of using a Savage but I already have a d8t and plenty of extra parts. It's already converted and would be a great candidate. Here's my rough plan:

Baja 5t badlands
Stretched wheelbase, shorter than a 5T but longer than truggy
24 mm adapters (where do I find these? Just slip them over the 17mm hexes? might have to get these made by Mike)
Some type of body, has to be truck or vw bug style (options?)
6s with Rx8 and Castle 1717 if I can find one
Savox or similar high torque servo for steering
d8t rear shocks and tower up front for more travel

This lets me use 1/8 scale parts and with that comes 1/8 scale strength and simplicity. Don't get me wrong, the Savage is tough, but I hate TVPs and the layout is ridiculous, it's an engineering nightmare for me.

The main bash purpose of this rig would be jumping, high speeds on rough terrain, stunts, and just overall fun. What do you guys think? Give me some opinions and your thoughts as well as suggestions!

:D
