supralover, good luck on the conversion. You're in for a good time.

Just to let you know, there are hardened steel pinions and spurs available from Robinson Racing now. The Kyosho plastics may not be necessary any longer. I have a butt load of plastic spurs, but when I'm done with those, I'm going to try the steel stuff.

Good to know, thanks. Does this mean I can use a RR pinion with my stock CR spur? The kyosho one leaks a little.

IMO, it's best to use a plastic spur whenever possible. If the design doesn't allow it, then use a hardened pinion. I'm still using the same hardened pinion on steel spur in my Hyper 8 for many runs now and the pinion still looks fine.

If the Kyosho spur leaks, add a gasket and that will take care of it. You might also have some dirt or something that is preventing a perfect seal. Of course, you may need to add/remove shims to adjust the internal mesh because of the thickness of the gasket.

Yep, I've already doubled gaskets but haven't gotten to test it as I had to dump the oil. No dirt as it's never been run yet, and I'm sure the gaskets will help. Thanks Brian and AAngel.
