Switching to a single speed is going to calm the wheelies a littleif you keep the same top speed gearing. Right now you're geared for about 44mph btw. But it sounds like your motor is already at its temp limit, I'd seriously consider a new motor.

From what I remember the Fine Design kit placed the battery out back, I'd consider moving it up front to help curb the wheelies also. As far as your weird sound, its likely not the trans, the diffs are more likely to blame. Factory shimmed diffs are tough, but don't always hold up very well to brushless power. Your palm tree incident may have something to with it too. I actually cracked a front diff case in an impact, no other damage was done either.

yea, singlespeed I think its going to be first thing I do with it. I don't care for the fine design kit, I just got the parts used so I have them. the battery mount sucks, it uses rubber bands which I have to credit FD did send me some for free last week when one snapped but they are awefully tough to go over 6s battery.

I noticed the back center drive shaft is a little bent. diffs seem good. checked the gear mesh earlier and it looked okay. i'm gonna rip the tranny down to do the forward only once I get new esc anyway.

I'll have to get this kit soon I think, that fine design motor mount isn't the best, screws it comes with would make you laugh, i'm afraid to take them out as I know they will never go back in again without stripping.

I completely did away with the transmission set up in mine and fabbed up a solid spool with the motor sitting on top. I don't like transmissions...to many moving parts to fail.

This 42 finned motor would fit the motor mount right? I know awhile back some said they should fit, just wanted to check before I bought.
