The manufacturing companies are virtually invisible to the world outside of China, you can generally only go through a reseller.

Unless you know someone.

Think about it for a min, if the resellers are selling stuff for cheap, how much are they getting it for??

How do I know? That's what I do.

I was supposed to be on my way to China (for the first time) on the 15th May, but, being sick, I wasn't allowed to fly.

For example, http://www.desire-battery.com/ these people are resellers of batteries.
This company actually makes the controllers. They are not resellers, you can trust me on this one as I went through almost all the resellers of ESC trying to see if they can make a HV controller. I was also told that Desire Battery is a manufacture and I contacted them about custom sized lipos and they said they would be more than happy to do it. Now the resellers that I have contacted, can't do it. One example if Kong Power. One interesting thin about my job is that it lets me find the manufacturer. Another example is Hobbywing, they make ESC as well and if you look at the Speed Passion GT controllers you will see what I mean. Before they had no markings saying who made it, but now they come with Hobbywing written on the controllers casing.

Desire battery will print whatever you want on a battery, they'll brand it however you like. Don't believe them, because, they know if you go direct to the manufacturer they lose out. My friend here owns a hobby shop & even he deals with Desire & they make him whatever he asks for & then brands it as he wants.

I don't do the research for our company, I just tell the guy's to investigate & they come back with the answers.

They are on the phone to China & Taiwan at least 10-15 times a day & they get really frustrated speaking to them in chinese.

So, how do you manage only via email or do you call as well?

Amax, is another. They will sell you virtually any knock off RC vehicle, then name it & brand it however you like.

You mean this hobby wing? http://www.hobby-wing.com/info.html Hold it, I found the other one, Hobbywing Technologies. Gimme a min.

You only have to look at the product listing on their site to know they're a reseller. They don't make all the stuff they list.

Hey guys we are all in the same game here. If Mozzy is planning a trip to China in the near future maybe he can do a little work in this area to get some test products our way. I like the look of those extreme power Lipos at 22C. I could not see a price anywhere, but I do wonder what those things cost for guys like us. The amp ratings are off the charts from what we are getting here now. 2008 is turning out to be a pretty good year.

Indeed they are & yes, I'll be looking at that stuff too for my mate with the hobby shop.

It won't be till after I recover from my operation though. Hopefully, just after July.

I've already got the guy's looking at lipo's, cause, I want them cheap too.

Here's another reason why I don't think they are the factory.

ADDRESS: Room 1109, WenAn Center, WenJin Plaza, TianBei 1st Road, LuoHu District, ShenZhen, P.R.China.

ShenZhen is the correct area, but, not in a plaza.

This place, is one of the companies directors, he owns another company as well & his wheel factory is next the factory that makes knockoff Baja's.
http://www.pdwgroup.com/australia/ma...standards.html The pic of his factory in China should be on this link.

I own a distribution company. I sell electronic components and have been doing it for a while now. Most of my clients and suppliers are from Asia. I know the resellers and manufacturers. Desire-Battery can brand, but I asked them to make custom sized cells and they can do it. Not just branding. I have also contacted a few other lipo manufacturers as well. Amax is a reseller and I know most of the factories in China that do produce the R/Cs they sell. The Hobbywing I mentioned is www.hobbywing.com and they make ESC. I do most of my work via e-mail as I know the right e-mails to contact them at and they feel better doing things through e-mail as they can use a translator. I've called many times and most of the time I found out they don't speak English. So e-mail is the best if you have the right address. I also deal with the owners of the companies I contact instead of an employee.

Do you know how you can really tell if a company is not a manufacturer. Here is a little secrete. If they list an address with a FLAT in it then you know that they are not a factory.

Yeah, I noticed that alot.

We could help each other alot here. When I finally get to go, I can go where ever to check things out.

I have to be sneaky though, cause, I'd get shot if I was looking for stuff for my hobbyshop friend & you. However, I'm willing to take the chance.

Not that I care, they can't GPS me everywhere I go.

I have to sleep, the nurse comes everyday to give me injections & I have to be awake for it otherwise she can't get in!!

Sounds good. There are a lot of places that I wanted to check out. Some of my friends that went to China a few years back had to actually get a container to ship the stuff they bought from there. They couldn't stop buying due the the prices .

I was there three years ago in Bejeing for vacation. The retail/wholesale business there is the biggest that I have ever seen. The markets are huge and the prices are very hard to believe when you are used to USA prices, but if you are not a reseller/dealier of some kind a lot of people will not deal with you. That would be cool with you two working together to achieve the goal of 'HIGH VOLTAGE" R/C power above the norm. It sounds like a good mix. The promise of opportunity is just around the corner, and we never know where it will show it's face. Good luck with that guys.
