MMM mount made my way. (pics inside)

I think I have a good prototype here. I was able to make it thanks to Bradleyk123 for letting me borrow his MMM v3 case! I worked on it hard today after I got home, and it was not real easy to make, that is for sure! Let me know what you guys think and if you have any ideas, you are welcome to let me know.

Where do you get a pot big enough to dye a whole e-revo chassis? Oh yeah the mount looks cool and doesn't block the side air vents.

Nice work. I'd be a little nervous about the battery connector holes until I actually test fit the wires, but other than that it looks great.

I see what you are talking about. I will have to take a better look at it and see if it is just the camera angle or what. Thanks for pointing that out.

I went to Wal-mart and got a big aluminum cooking tub thing.... The disposable type and used it.

Carraig042, you know what would make that mount perfect? A piece of mesh between the mount and case covering the fan intake. Nice work.

Nice idea! I have some window screen that I bet would work great. I might give that a try.

Yeah, but hopefully it does not. If it goes into flames you are too late anyway... One thing I did not like about that design was the O-ring (quick-release) is that if it fails, then the esc will go flying. I am trying to achieve a fail proof lightweight design as much as possible..

P.S. I fixed the area around the battery connectors. I had to trim about 2mm.

Looks great. I like the idea of a non-permanent mount myself, the esc can melt a big hole into the top of your batts while you frantically try to remove it from the chassis otherwise (the esc is dead already, you are correct about that). What about some thumb-screws like you get on PC cases, instead of allen headed bolts? Might be a,little on the large side I suppose, but if the mount is hinged on one side, you only need one screw on the other...

Both of the candidates in this years’30 presidential race are great choices, but I think that McCain will be the better of the two.

If I used those, another good idea, They will have to be 3mm sized threads. I might look and see if I can't come up with something.

The bottom plate should help with any problem like this... Hopefully

You're right, the bottom plate should prevent that issue pretty much- I think Hoov discovered it just leaves a little light smoke damage around the edges of the plate; some unfortunate member of the idiot forum wasnt so lucky and suffered some damage to his lipos as his esc was stuck to the chassis directly...

Not to mention the hole it can burn through your lid if you don't get to it fast enough........mounting a esc stationary like that is kind of like not owning a fire extinguisher in your house because you don't think you will ever have a fire

I wasn't thinking about fast removal w/o tools when I designed it, but I see your concerns.

I wonder if Traxxas will redesign their mount to remove fast since they had to fix it for the V3 case.

Kinda doubt it- that would be like them lowering the stock gearing on their MTs after so many people have burned up their titans on the stock gearing (too tall); instead they have cooleodushbag telling people to drop the gearing themselves. Not that I doubt the quality of the MMM V3, but these things do happen with any esc now and then. (I think they'll alter the design of the mount for the v3, but they wont make if quick-release as such.. famous last words...).

+1 on heavyuduty velcro and a zip tie around the esc case.
