As far as loosing the clutch, buy the rcm revo mount. It places the motor closer to the spur so that you can use std pinions. You may also want to run jato spurs, as they are 32p and you can get 32p pinions from traxxas or rrp with 1/8 bore to match the 1/8 shaft on the vxl motor. I would say that 18/54 gearing would be a good place to start, mid 30s with stock sized tires.

You really want to keep this truck as light as possible with that power system. Heavy wheels and tall gearing will produce alot of heat in the motor, esc and batts.
Cool thanks for the info, do you think a long shank pinion would work it dosent seem to far off?
