As for spline, I'm using one of the arms that came with the baja kit. It says "Hi 8mm" on it. So Hitec I guess. Only problem is, the baja comes with a few arms

So not sure what the tooth count is lol.

at first i bought the futaba s5050 for steering servo but i just traded it in for the HPI SFL 30MG digi servo so that i had the 8mm spline and could use the massive HPI servo arm.

ok, so i got my camera working again. here are some pics of recent work on the 1/5.

modded bumper. looks much more like truggy bumper.

redcat35

picked up a set of chrome spoke wheels.

here are the integy disc brakes. coming along nice but not done yet. cant wait to get these all hoooked up.

set of modded baja 5b shocks on the rear. baja front shocks to come this week. these are 10x better than the rampage shocks and have a huge 6mm shock shaft for super strength.

redcat31

used a set of kyosho big bore shock boots as dog bone boots. these work much better than the huge HPI or Darksoul boots they sell for this.

so this week should be a good week. i am anticipating getting my motor mount and spur gear back from the machine shop, my Hydra hv240 arrives, and a few other things that i plan to get done. i am hoping to have something that is starting to resemble a finished truck by next week. we'll see.

i can tell already they should work great. just with one mounted up i can roll the truck and pull the cable manually and the pads grab the disc firmly and stop the truck. i think they will stop this beast on a dime. i have to make some new discs though cuz these are 24mm and meant for the baja whereas the rampage has 22mm hexes. so i have some 2mm carbon coming this week to make my own brake discs.

carbon fiber brake discs, cool. do you have to balance the break-power or does that work automatically? I remember that from eg. old landrover, when the mechanical breaks are not well adjusted, the car turns right or left when breaking.

because the center diff is locked on this truck that wont happen. technically i could only run one set of breaks and it "should" work. if i do notice anything like that though i can adjust the grab of brakes to be equal all around by adjusting the width of the pads so that all 4 grab at roughly the same time. i really wish i had a viscous center diff and could then dial in front and rear bias. i am doing the the 4-wheel brakes now even though they are not needed cuz i hope to build a viscous center diff at some point in the future. i guess it will depend mostly on how i like the locked center diff.
