4s is definitely enough voltage, I still break a diff or axle now and again and runs nice and cool.
When running good batteries and good electronics you can get by with 4s. But once you go with a lower kv motor and 6s you will never go back.

Lower kv and 6s lipo will provide the best temps. With the availability of the MMM there is no reason to not run 6s. Especially when the 1717 CC motor on the horizon. I gave up 4s in heavier vehicles, too many amps and the power reserve is so much better with 6s.
