what is the difference between the v3 and v4 mambas? if i get a MMM right now, it'll be a v3 and not the newer v4. will there be the same policy with the v3s that there was with the v 1 and 2? if my v3 were to fail, say, 14 months after i get it, would i be able to exchange it for the current model? or was that only with the v1 and v2 due to the high failure rate?

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

The V3/V4 are fairly similar -- same boards, slightly different parts. Any V3 that gets repaired also gets upgraded to V4.

There really isn't enough of a difference to make it worth while to return a V3 for the changes.

V5 coming soon -- 99% of people won't notice ANY difference at all.

WOW. Is v3 vs. v4 as simple as the bullets vs. hard soldered battery wires.

That's called a noticable/visable difference. I didn't know there was a v4 either.

@ Kcaz- No, thats one of the outward differences between v2 and v3; the esc had alot of internal changes too to the brain board.

Read Patrick's posts more carefully- the difference between the v3 and v4/ v5/ v6 will be changes to the internal circuits to improve reliability and durability; extra idiot proofing mainly...

i've heard that the v1 and v2 MMM speed controls can be swapped out for the v3 or v4 MMM for no charge, even if they are over a year old (warranty ran out).

will the same thing happen for the v3 MMM speed controls? i am getting a v3 from my LHS tomorrow or Wednesday and would like just a little more assurance.

V1 and V2 are the only ones that can be replaced free of charge. V1s were rather problematic and had a high failure rate and the V2s still had some issues so Castle stood up to the plate and offers lifetime replacements on them. 'Nuff said about Castle support.

I just bought a MMM and the sticker on the box reads

v3 ESC ONLY
no motor included
010-0062-00

It has soldered 10 AWG battery wires and bullet connectors motor wires.
Is it possible that it is a v4?

Avner.

Yes, if you just got it it's probably a V4. Note that V4 is internal only, the paperwork didn't change, just an ECO for the circuit.
